Steven Mullen at Digital Content Producer takes a hard look at methods of de-interlacing after examining the so-called "Full HD" marketing program used to promote televisions, camcorders, etc. with 1920x1080 resolution and 60p display / capture capabilities. It's a heavy read, but if you want to gather a better understanding of types of de-interlacing, and how they differ from each other, this is a useful explanation.
