While $15,000 might not seem 'affordable' to any DV enthusiast,
to DV pros, $15,000 for a direct-to-disk HD recorder is a pretty fair
deal. CineForm and Wafian released a new recorder to take your
HDV footage direct to disk, and straight to edit. The only
caveat? Straight to edit in Adobe Premiere. You might be
asking yourself, why Premiere? CineForm's codec is Premiere's
intermediate codec for HDV. Score one for Adobe, but kind of
seems a little like a disadvantage for the product's usability.
Everyone else will have to transcode out of CineForm to their favorite
codec. For reals. I think it's stupid too, but I'm not making a $15,000 system.High-end Direct to Disk HD Recorder
